 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. FG Earmarks $1.2M For Evacuation Of Nigerians From Sudan

Federal Government has earmarked $1.2 million to procure 40 buses for the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Sudan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, told Journalists after the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday that the government will take advantage of the 72-hour ceasefire in Sudan to evacuate Nigerians trapped in the war ravaged country as arrangements have been reached with the Sudanese Government.

During the evacuation, priority will not be accorded any diplomat, he said, adding that the government will prioritise women and children.

No Nigerian had died in the war, he remarked, stressing that the first batch of Nigerians were already being evacuated to Egypt, where they will be airlifted to the country.

Some Nigerians have already been transported to Saudi Arabia for airlifting, the Minister added.
