 Nigerian makes US Most Wanted List over $1m fraud A Nigerian, Onoriode Ezewu, has been named on the United States Department of Labour’s first-ever Most Wanted List over allegations of money laundering involving fraudulent unemployment benefit claims worth more than $1m. The department’s Office of Inspector General unveiled the list on its website on Wednesday, naming 16 fugitives wanted in cases involving alleged fraud, identity theft, money laundering, labour trafficking and other offences. According to the agency, the cases collectively involve more than $55m allegedly stolen from American taxpayers. FG EMBARKS ON REGISTRATION OF UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE IN BENUE

The federal government has commenced the registration of unemployed persons in the 23 local government areas of Benue State.

Our correspondent reports that the federal government through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in the state also distributed materials to its local government area liaison officers for the exercise.

The State Co-ordinator of NDE, Akile Patrick, who flagged off the exercise in Makurdi, told the liaison officers to go to their areas and register all unemployed persons, whether old or young.

He said the federal government understood the plight of people who are unemployed and has positive plans for their well-being, therefore, it had directed the NDE to register all such persons in the state.
