  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. Actress Ini Edo Excited As ‘Shanty Town’ Bags 10 AMVCA Nominations

Popular Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, has expressed her excitement  after her recent movie, 'Shanty Town,' received ten Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards nominations.

In an Instagram post on Monday, she expressed her gratitude to the entire cast and crew, as well as the audience who supported the movie.

She wrote, “Shanty Town!!!. 10 Nominations!!! Phew!..Did I see the nominations coming?? Yes.. I just didn't know it will come in such. grand style… Shout out to the entire cast and crew of one of the biggest movie out from Africa.

“Shanty Town. God is indeed faithful. I appreciate my Tribe. My unshakable crew. My amazingly supportive cast members. My unwavering Audience who took the gospel of the Shanty far and near. You all are the real Mvps'.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
