 PRESS RELEASE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL UNITY AND FAIR REPRESENTATION IN APPOINTMENTS The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) wishes to address recent insinuations circulating, particularly on social media, regarding the composition of Federal appointments. The Government categorically refutes claims of lopsidedness and emphasizes its unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, equity, and national unity. All appointments are made in strict adherence to federal character principle, as enshrined in Section 14 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Altered). KKaduna State appoints transition committee

The Kaduna State Government has announced the constitution of the 2023 Transition Committee, comprising nominees of the outgoing El-Rufai administration and Senator Uba Sani, the governor-elect.

A statement from Sir Kashim Ibrahim House disclosed that the 65-person committee will prepare the roadmap for implementing the SUSTAIN manifesto of the incoming government which has at its core a governance agenda to continue the progress recorded in the state since 2015. The committee will also arrange the ceremonies to usher in the new government.

The Transition Committee will be chaired by Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the incumbent Secretary to the State Government, who was chairman of the Transition Committee in 2015 and vice-chairman in 2019. Nuhu Isyaku Buzun, the permanent secretary Cabinet & Political Affairs, will serve as secretary to the Committee, which will soon be inaugurated.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
