 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Man Hacks Girlfriend to Death in Kaduna



Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend. 


 Spokesperson of the command, DSP Muhammad Jalige, who confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, April 21, 2023, said the suspect was rescued as he was about being lynched by a mob.


Jalige said on April 14 that at about 21:30hrs, the Command received a distress call that there was a mob action at NEPA Roundabout in Kaduna metropolis where an unruly crowd were about to lynch a man.


Operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene.


“On getting there they met the suspect lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd,” he said. 


According to Jalige, information gathered revealed that the suspect attacked his girlfriend of Old Command Secondary and Nursery School, Sokoto Road, Kaduna with a machete and inflicted multiple degrees of injury on her face, arms and hands.

 

He explained that during the attack the man severed her left hand completely, alleging that he had spent a lot of resources on her and she wanted to dump him for another man. 


The victim was rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, for treatment where a doctor on duty confirmed she was dead.


 “The corpse of the lady has been deposited at the same hospital, for an autopsy,” Jalige said. 

The PPRO said investigation was ongoing.
