 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  Man Hacks Girlfriend to Death in Kaduna



Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend. 


 Spokesperson of the command, DSP Muhammad Jalige, who confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, April 21, 2023, said the suspect was rescued as he was about being lynched by a mob.


Jalige said on April 14 that at about 21:30hrs, the Command received a distress call that there was a mob action at NEPA Roundabout in Kaduna metropolis where an unruly crowd were about to lynch a man.


Operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene.


“On getting there they met the suspect lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd,” he said. 


According to Jalige, information gathered revealed that the suspect attacked his girlfriend of Old Command Secondary and Nursery School, Sokoto Road, Kaduna with a machete and inflicted multiple degrees of injury on her face, arms and hands.

 

He explained that during the attack the man severed her left hand completely, alleging that he had spent a lot of resources on her and she wanted to dump him for another man. 


The victim was rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, for treatment where a doctor on duty confirmed she was dead.


 “The corpse of the lady has been deposited at the same hospital, for an autopsy,” Jalige said. 

The PPRO said investigation was ongoing.
