 $150m Aluminium, Copper Ingots Plant Berth in Ogun, Set to Employ 500 The current influx of investors to Ogun State has yet to abate, as another recycling plant for the production of aluminium and copper ingots has been established in the state. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Neveah Ltd, Mr. Ibidapo Lawal stated this on Monday after a meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Lawal noted that the multimillion-dollar recycling plant, when fully operational and at full capacity, would generate over $150 million annually and employ more than 500 people. He said the plant would recycle aluminium scraps from car engines, cans, and other metals into ADC 12 and export them to car manufacturing companies in Asia, Japan, Indonesia, and a host of others. NCC denies tracking and leaking phone calls of Nigerians


The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has denied any involvement in the tracking and leaking of phone conversations between individuals, groups, or organizations.


The Commission stated this in a statement issued and signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Mouka. Part of the statement reads


“The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been inundated with enquiries by the media on allegations of telephone “tracking” and “leakage” made against the Commission by some individuals and groups in the social and alternative Media.


The Commission wishes to make the following clarifications, The Commission denies the allegations in their entirety. By the provisions of the Nigerian Communication Act (NCA) 2003 and other extant Laws of the Federation, the Commission does not and cannot “track” nor “leak” telephone conversations of anyone.


The Commission has reported the allegations, which we take seriously, to relevant security agencies for proper investigation and necessary action.


The Commission restates its commitment to discharge its responsibilities to the Nigerian people in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; the NCA 2003; and other extant Laws of the Federation; and global best practices.”


Recall that last weekend, a purported telephone conversation between Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Bishop David Oyedepo, went viral. Some Nigerians including musician Peter Okoye, questioned the safety of telephone calls in Nigeria.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
