Abia APC Denies Imposing Non-Member as Governorship Candidate, Declares Primary Transparent The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly rejected allegations that it allowed a non-member of the party to emerge as winner of its governorship primary election. The party’s reaction came on Monday following threats by some top members, including Mezie Chiekwe Esiaga and Ndubuisi Eme, who last week warned that the APC would face a major defeat in the 2027 governorship election if the ticket was not handed to former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Henry Ikoh. Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, Abia APC Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, described the primary election won by Eric Opah as transparent and free from manipulation.
