 PRESS RELEASE  National Dialogue on Power in Health Sector: FG Sets Up Committee To Resolve Electricity Challenges In Public Healthcare Facilities  The Federal Government has inaugurated an Implementation Committee for National Stakeholders Dialogue on Power in the Health sector, aimed at achieving sustainable electrification of public healthcare facilities. The primary objective of the national dialogue is to amongst others enhance public- private partnerships to ensure a steady electricity supply to public health institutions.  It will also identify alternative and sustainable solutions by exploring renewable energy options, backup power systems and, energy-efficient solutions to enhance power reliability in tertiary and other health facilities across the  country. What Happened In Lagos Was War, Not Election – LP’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour


The 2023 Labour Party candidate for the just concluded gubernatorial election in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has insisted what happened in the state was a war, not a poll.


Speaking on Arise Television’s morning show on Friday, Rhodes-Vivour also said that the responsibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must improve amid the election’s conduction.


Rhodes-Vivour said, “What happened in Lagos was a war on Lagosians no matter how they want to colour it or module the waters.


“In Ikoyi, there were Yoruba people who were beaten and affected by thugs and hooligans that came into the place.


“Look at what happened VCG as well and the complicity of INEC as well in this process need to be taken up so that If they want to try anything next time they would do things differently, give a perception of equity, fairness and justice, not these brazing rip over democracy in Lagos State.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
