 NPF MODERNIZES OPERATIONAL FLEET WITH SUPPORT FROM NPF-TF AND PI-CNG, SETS PATH FOR GREEN ENERGY TRANSITION In a significant step toward sustainable policing and enhanced operational efficiency, the Nigeria Police Force, on 21st April 2026, received three specialized buses from the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPF-TF) and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PI-CNG & EV). The ceremony marks the official commencement of the transition toward green energy within the Nigeria Police Force. The event was attended by a distinguished delegation from the NPF-TF, including Executive Secretary Mohammad Sheidu, CP Tony Emafale, Alhaji Sanusi Aliyu, QS Lawal Aliyu, and Oritsemi Banigo. ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE OF 24TH APRIL 2023


ENUGU POLICE OPERATIVES ARREST, ARRAIGN AND HAVE A YOUNG MAN, 24, REMANDED FOR STRANGLING TO DEATH AND BURING FRIEND, 44, IN A SHALLOW GRAVE


A young man, Agbo Onuabuchi aged 24, a native of Ebonyi State, but resident at Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been arraigned and remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre, for strangling to death and burying his male friend, one Peter Ukekwe aged 44, in a shallow grave, at Amori community in Nkanu West Local Government Area, on 01/04/2023.


2. The suspect and the deceased, had on the said date, traveled from Ogidi, Anambra State, to the mentioned location to visit one Onyeka Edeh (male and a Native Doctor). However, during the night hours, the duo left the host's house for an unknown destination. A search was conducted, but they were not found until the following morning, when the suspect was arrested at Obe community in the same LGA, by Police Operatives serving in Nkanu West Division of Enugu State Command, with the assistance of citizens, while he was attempting to escape back to Ogidi, Anambra State. 


3. The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he strangled the victim to death and buried him in a shallow grave in the bush, where his remains were exhumed and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The case was, thereafter, transferred to the Homicide Section of the State CID Enugu, where investigation into the case was consolidated, concluded and the suspect arraigned and remanded accordingly for further hearing.
