 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity. Abuja teenager punches neighbour to death

An 18-year-old man, Biliya Lawal, has died after receiving a punch in his stomach during a fight with his 14-year-old neighbour, simply identified as Danladi.

The duo was said to have engaged in a heated exchange of words at their compound in Gadabiu in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory which resulted in a physical fight.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident which happened around 6 pm on Friday had become the talk of the town.

A commercial driver in the area who gave his name as Aliyu said the reason behind the exchange of words and subsequent exchange of punches was unknown.

He said Immediately after Lawal fell to the ground, he was rushed to the Kwali General Hospital where he was declared dead.

He said, “Both Lawal who is about 18-year-old and Danladi, a 14-year-old boy, live in the same compound located at Gadabiu in Kwali Area Council. I don’t know what in particular led to the exchange of words but it must have been a serious issue.

“The verbal exchange of words became heated and later resulted in a physical fight. The two exchanged blows, in the process, Danladi’s punch hit Lawal in his stomach. Lawal fell to the ground and immediately went unconscious. He was immediately rushed to the Kwali General Hospital where the doctor who attended to them pronounced him dead. The matter as I speak to you has spread to everywhere in the community. ”

When contacted, the FCT command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, adding that Danladi had been arrested.

She said, “The suspect is custody. The case has been transferred to SCID for further investigation.”

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
