  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician.  Ajay Banga Emerges New World Bank President

The World Bank has announced the appointment of Ajay Banga as its next president, taking over from David Malpass on June 2.

The development lender has high hopes for Banga, who will lead the institution during a critical time as it seeks to improve its response to climate change.

Following a board vote, the World Bank released a statement expressing confidence in Banga’s leadership, adding that it looks forward to working with him on the organisation’s evolution process.

“The Board looks forward to working with Mr. Banga on the World Bank Group Evolution process,” the bank wrote.

Banga has been appointed for a five-year term.
