 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Governor Ganduje Commends Hisbah On Societal Vices Fight 

Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has commended the state hisbah board, for it's dedication towards eradicating societal vices, across the 44 local government areas.

Dr. Ganduje gave the commendation, during a visit to Hisbah headquarters Sharada Kano State.

According to the Governor, his administration had mapped out policies and programs aimed at uplifting Kano Hisbah to international standards.

He explained that, the state government had recruited hundreds of hisbah marshalls and hisbah corps, in addition to establishment of new structures, and training of personnel to strengthen their capabilities.

Dr. Ganduje however stressed that, the agency's efforts had yielded positive results, where miscreants and unpatriotic Nigerians in Kano, are scared of committing unethical acts, for fear of being apprehended.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commander General, Kano State State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Dr. Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina appealed to the governor to assent to the evacuation of a large consigment of beer at the board's headquarters to enable the completion of some structures. 

He pointed out that, the Board had recorded tremendous achievements in the fight against drug peddling and abuse, child labour and molestation, prostitution, among others.

Also speaking, the Director General Kano State Hisbah Board, Alhaji Abdullahi Balarabe thanked the governor for the visit.

Governor Ganduje was accompanied by commissioners, advisers, assistants and top government functionaries.
