 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. Gunmen Kill Policeman At Check Point in Rivers

Dare-devil gunmen on Friday afternoon shot and killed a policeman at a check point around the Emohua axis of the East-West Road. The killers zoomed off immediately after the deed had been done

According to eye witnesses, a driver who was around the area and apparently waiting to be cleared at the checkpoint was hit by a stray bullet. It is not clear if he died.

The killers were suspected to be hoodlums who have been terrorising that axis of the East West Road. The road is actually occupied by various policemen who position themselves at checkpoints not far from each other.

Police spokesperson in the state command, Grace Harris Iringe-Koko, a deputy superintendent of police who spoke with TNN over the telephone on Friday evening confirmed the killing and also said that the gunmen did not go with any arms belonging to the policemen at the checkpoint.

She could not give details on the killing, saying she was yet to get a comprehensive report on the incident. She said investigations were on-going.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
