 71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. The minor, according to a police source who was part of the team that arrested the 71-year-old suspect but was not permitted to speak for the command, was said to have made her way to the apartment’s bathroom to take a shower. ICPC tasks Media on the fight against Corruption in Anambra State

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on the media, especially in Anambra State, to collaborate with it in the fight against corruption.

The Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC), Anambra State office, Mr. Godwin Oche, made the call at the May Congress of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), held in Awka recently.

Mr. Oche who was represented at the congress by a staff of the state office, Mr. Inalegwu Shaibu, maintained that public sector corruption was the bane of development in Nigeria which cannot be confronted without the media.

He acknowledged that the media, as a critical stakeholder in the society, has a major role to play in the battle against corruption as it can report and expose corrupt practices when it happened as well as educate the citizenry on or against the menace.

He said, “Public sector corruption has been one of the banes of national development. It is cheaper and more result-oriented to government to prevent corrupt practices from happening than to fight it.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
