 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Jigawa Pilgrims Board Secures Over 1,400 Visas For Intending Pilgrims 

Jigawa state Pilgrims welfare board says it has so far secured over 1,420 visa for its intending pilgrims.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo disclosed this to Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Dutse, the state capital.

He said, all prospective pilgrims who completed payment for their hajj fare have been enrolled in the Visa process.

He explained that the board would soon distribute 8kg bags and uniforms to center officers for onward distribution to prospective pilgrims.

According to him, immunization for the intending pilgrims will also be administered at the board headquarters and other designated centers in the state soon.

Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo added that the Jigawa state pilgrims welfare board had completed all arrangements for the smooth airlift of the state pilgrims.

He further explained that, the flight for the airlift of this year's state intending pilgrims was scheduled by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON.

Ahmed Labbo pointed out that, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON had assigned Azman Air to airlift the Jigawa and Kaduna states as well as Armed Forces team pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

The Pilgrims Boss therefore, urged intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and the country in general while at the holy land.

He commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for the support and cooperation given to the board for a hitch free exercise.
