 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail. Kano Enacts New Law To Regulate Preaching

The Kano State Government has announced the enactment of a new law to regulate religious preaching.


The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Muhammad Garba, stated this to newsmen while explaining the key aspects of the law.


He said the decision was reached in a recent State Executive Council meeting, held at the Government House.


According to him: “The law would coordinate the mode of preaching, sermons to prevent an attack on the leadership of the opposite sect, and incitement of followers via radio, television, newspaper, or any other conventional platform.”


He said the government has also approved the establishment of a Council of Ulama through an enabling law from the Kano State House of Assembly.


Muhammad said the council will have the responsibility of supervising and regulating all religious sermons in the state.
