 71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. The minor, according to a police source who was part of the team that arrested the 71-year-old suspect but was not permitted to speak for the command, was said to have made her way to the apartment’s bathroom to take a shower. Kano Enacts New Law To Regulate Preaching

The Kano State Government has announced the enactment of a new law to regulate religious preaching.


The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Muhammad Garba, stated this to newsmen while explaining the key aspects of the law.


He said the decision was reached in a recent State Executive Council meeting, held at the Government House.


According to him: “The law would coordinate the mode of preaching, sermons to prevent an attack on the leadership of the opposite sect, and incitement of followers via radio, television, newspaper, or any other conventional platform.”


He said the government has also approved the establishment of a Council of Ulama through an enabling law from the Kano State House of Assembly.


Muhammad said the council will have the responsibility of supervising and regulating all religious sermons in the state.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours.
