 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 LASG PRESENTS POS MACHINES TO ANOTHER BATCH OF 1,500 UNEMPLOYED YOUTHS 



In continuation of the distribution of free POS Machines as a way of empowering unemployed youths, the Lagos State Government has presented another 1,500 digitised POS Machines to a new set of beneficiaries from different Local Government Areas across the State. 


The gesture is part of measures towards eradicating the lingering unemployment crisis in the State through wealth creation and employment strategies for sustainable economic growth of Lagos State. 


Speaking during the distribution of the POS machine at the Ministry’s Conference Room recently, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke disclosed that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is aware of the needs of Lagosians, especially the youth population. 


According to her, the State Government is exploring a multi-dimensional approach to invest in the capacity development of youths and unemployed citizens in an attempt to increase the number of wealth creators in the State. 


Arobieke maintained that the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment will continue to come up with useful initiatives and more impactful programmes that will change the current narratives of joblessness and unemployment among the teeming young populace. 


She further stated that the distribution of the free POS machine was a collaboration of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Twenty-Solution Company and Opay Agency, an independent financial Institute licensed and regulated by CBN and insured by NDIC. 


The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Abiodun Onayele urged the beneficiaries of the POS gesture by the State Government to make good use of the empowerment initiative, just as he commended and appreciated the efforts of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support in reducing unemployment among the youths.


The CEO of the Twenty-Solution, Mr. Ayokunle Odebiyi said the company provided the digitalised POS Machines as a form of support to the Lagos State Government’s vision of reducing unemployment to the minimum. 


One of the beneficiaries of the POS, Mr. Kehinde Ajala, from Ikorodu Local Government Area, stated that the distribution of the free POS to unemployed youths in the State will go a long way to reduce the rate of unemployment in the State. 


In the same vein, another beneficiary from the Ikosi area of the State, Miss Esther Ilesanmi, thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Twenty-Solution Company and Opay for their help in reducing the lingering unemployment crisis in Lagos.
