 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. May day: Zamfara workers decry non payment of salary, observe low-key celebration

Zamfara state civil servants have decried non-payment of salary for three months and called for overhauling of public service in all ramifications.

Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Unions Congress, TUC, made this known today (Monday) in their separate speeches at the May day celebration conducted in a low-key at Garba Nadama conference Hall of JB Yakubu secretariat, Gusau.

According to the labour leaders in the state, there was cordial relationship between government and workers in the state but at the end of the tenure of the present administration the story changed which they prayed to be rectified in the remaining four weeks of the present government of the state.

In his speech, Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle was represented by a Director in the office of the head of Service, Mr Ahmad Ibrahim said the state government was doing everything possible to ensure welfare of public servants in the state he recalled the distribution of over 400 housing units to workers, saying the salary of the workers would be settled before the end of this month.

He rejoiced with workers for the May day celebration and called on them to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their legitimate duties.

During the event, awards of recognition were presented to Radio Nigeria Pride FM Gusau, Central Bank of Nigeria and Zamfara State Radio, among other mediums and individuals for their separate contributions to public enlightenment, economy and other developments as recognized by the NLC.
