 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NECO Reschedules 2023 National Entrance Examination into Suleja Academy.

The National Examinations Council NECO has rescheduled the twenty twenty three entrance examination that is being conducted for the gifted and talented children into Federal Government Academy Suleja in Niger state.

It has been sifted from Saturday the thirteenth of this month to Saturday the tenth of June this year.

This is contained in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani.

Mr Azeez Sani explained that the Examination was rescheduled to enable more candidates register for the examination following request by some stakeholders for an extension of the registration period.

He further said the Federal Government Academy Suleja is a training ground for moulding the gifted and talented children of Nigeria targeted at achieving the desired objective.

He stated that it provides enormous opportunities for outstanding gifted students to develop their potentials in the interest of nation building and technological advancement.

According to him, the Students benefit from Federal Government scholarship such as tuition fees, external examination fees, boarding, feeding, uniform and basic textbooks.

Mr Azeez Sani added that registration of the candidates will continue till the new date of the examination, while candidates, parents, guardians and other relevant stakeholders are enjoined to take note of the new date for the examination.
