 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Pharmacists Decry High Rate Of Quackery In Drugs Dispensation

The Anambra State Chairman,Community Pharmacists of Nigeria Mr.Henry Iloh says the association will fight quackery to a logical conclusion to assuage the abuse of drugs dispensation.


In a statement at the 32nd annual state conference of the association in Awka Mr Iloh announced that the association will champion awareness creation to educate the people on the need to assess health through the proper channel.


He expressed worry over the proliferation  of non professionals in the dispensation  of drugs and expressed dismay that regulatory authorities are not doing enough to nip the ugly trend in the bud.


On his part,a retired director of Pharmaceutical services,Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Nnewi Mr.Patric Eze frowned at the constant abuse of drugs dispensation by quacks.


He expects that drugs regulatory authorities in  the country should intensify their efforts to  check the ugly trend.


In another press statement, Mr.Whitney Omoggbai a Biochemist in Lagos  delivered a lecture On Malaria in Nigeria  and announced the official global report which listed Nigeria as occupying one third of the global deaths resulting from Malaria.


He listed as preventive measure of contracting Malaria to include ensuring a clean environment, using insecticides treatment nets and getting rid of stagnant water
