 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SPORTS: LSSC, GLOBAL AMBASSADORS ANNOUNCE COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS As part of the activities marking the 2025 International Day of Sports for Development and Peace, the Lagos State Sports Commission (ISSC) in collaboration with Global Ambassadors Initiative has announced series of events commemorating the celebration. At a media briefing held on Friday at the Conference Room of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Director-General of LSSC, Lekan Fatodu discussed extensively on the significance of sports in propagating youth empowerment, social cohesion and bridging the gaps in segregating some members of the society. The LSSC boss stated that the IDSDP is in harmony with the Commission mandate of encouraging mass participation in sports, providing enabling environment for youth to exhibit their hidden talent irrespective of their social status and background. Terrorists abduct APC women leaders after attending Kaduna Governor’s inauguration

Families of two All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders who were allegedly Abducted by terrorists in Kaduna State; have appealed to the authorities to come to their rescue.

Journalists were told on Wednesday in Kaduna that the 2 women who were women leaders in the APC, Hajiya Lami Awarware and her assistant, Hajiya Haulatu Aliyu, were now in captivity and no one was contacted over their matter.

According to the chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU, Ishaq Usman Kasai, the women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state were kidnapped along the Manini flash point of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state after attending the inauguration of the state governor, Senator Uba Sani.”

“The bandits blocked the road and kidnapped the two APC women leaders including dozens of others. The kidnapped women leaders are Birnin Gwari APC women leader, Hajiya Lami Awarware and her assistant, Hajiya Haulatu Aliyu,” he alleged.

‘After they were kidnapped on Tuesday, the kidnappers took them to the forest. The abductors are yet to contact the families of the victims or any person in the area.”

The police and APC officials in Kaduna State were yet to react to the incident.

For some time, fleeing terrorists were reported to have encircled Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area, after migrating from neighbouring Zamfara state due to land and air bombardment by the Nigerian military.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
