By MaryAnn Chukwuma.

The Vice Chairman, State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (SJPSNC) and the Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Anambra state, Mrs. Edith Onwuka have praised the Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Okwy Igwegbe for restoring water reticulation in the State Secretariat.

This praise came during the Joint Negotiating Council meeting held on May 11 at the office of the Head of Service, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

Mrs Onwuka who reiterated that as a health personnel there were things that must be in place for a place to become habitable.

The trade Union boss noted that one cannot go without admitting the fact that the HOS has achieved a relatively great feat in maintaining a good level of hygiene and sanitation necessary for good working condition in the state Secretariat Complex.

"The Anambra State Secretariat was masterfully designed to provide the basic amenities needed for workers' convenience and for a healthy and safe working environment and as such its status cannot be discredited by detractors and enemies of the state, especially now that a person like Barr. Igwegbe sits on the helm of affairs."

Other members of the council while contributing, advised against uninformed reportage which peddles misinformation and misrepresentation of situation which only misleads the public and sabotage the good efforts of committed leaders.

"The welfare of workers had always remained top in the agenda of the Anambra State Government and it was impossible for something as basic as the provision of functional urinaries to be omitted as against such news that claim that Anambra workers now engage in open defecation as result of non availability of toilets.

Anambra State remained one of the states in the federation with the most committed leaders truly dedicated to the service of the people and there is a clarion call on everyone to join hands in building the state.

"The Head of Service, Barr. Igwegbe, also is known for her receptiveness and openness to entertain all and sundry, and it would be Callous for anyone to peddle write ups which depicts falsehood.

Reporters were then advised to cease from peddling unfounded and unverified news as such reporting goes against the laws governing journalism and could attract legal punishment," they advised.
