 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. SAD! Scores Kidnapped As Armed Robbers Block Garaku/Gudi Road

Armed robbers, Wednesday night attacked travellers on the Garaku/Gudi expressway in Nasarawa State. 

The incident occurred around Mararaban Arusu  at the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State where scores of travellers were abducted and whisked away to unknown destination. 

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen also shot no less three passengers who were later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital. 

The gunmen had shot on a heavy duty vehicle where it broke down and slowed traffic on the expressway before carrying out their operations amidst the heavy downpour. 

Efforts to reach the DPO of Garaku Division proved abortive at press time. But a policeman said security operatives have been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control and ensure safety of travellers and other road users.
