 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident.  Zamfara Workers Organise Special Prayers Over Non-Payment Of Salaries

Some civil servants in Zamfara State observed special prayers at the Eid mosque in Gusau, the state capital, on Saturday. 

Daily Trust reports that the workers who converged on the mosque around 10 a.m. sought divine intercession over their salaries.

The workers said they were last paid in January and were finding it difficult to meet up with their demands.

“Many of us have been pushing to be beggars, unable to eat one square meal a day. So, this prayer session is specially meant to commit our dear governor, Head of Service, members of the House of Assembly and all those concerned, for God to enable them to have compassion on us.

“We have suffered enough on account of this struggle, many lost their lives too and we want it no more. We have gathered in unison devoid of religious affiliations to sincerely seek God’s intervention for all,” one of them who craved anonymity said.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
