 Be Attentive to Your Husbands, Families - Catholic Cleric Urges Mothers on Mother's Day By Ifeyinwa Ogwo Rev. Fr. Francis Oranye, Parish Priest of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Awka, urged mothers to give serious attention to their husbands' needs, just as they do for their children, emphasizing that husbands are also part of their responsibilities. He pointed out that some family issues stem from mothers not taking time to consider their husbands and ensuring their well-being. "Some mothers do not communicate with their husbands and prefer to connect only with their children, neglecting their husbands' faith. Can you openly condemn children who do wrong if they contribute more to the family?" he asked. He encouraged mothers to show care and interest in their husbands. 10th NASS: Akpabio Assures of Working with All, Despite Differences

The President of the Nigerian 10th Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, said he will cooperate with all senators despite their differences.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State and immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja, after his inauguration as president of the 10th Senate.

Akpabio garnered 63 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdullaziz Yari, who scored 46 votes in a keenly contested election of the Senate presiding officers.

In his acceptance speech, Akpabio observed that, “Expressions of differing and opposing opinions and views are but the fabric that democracy is made of.”

He pointed out that with his election as president of the 10th senate, the legislative chamber is set for the promulgation of laws, and a check on the executive through oversight functions.

While expressing the view that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to building a strong and virile economy, the president of the 10th senate, noted that the actions of Mr. president in recent weeks pointed to his understanding of the challenges faced by the citizens.
