 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. 10th NASS: Akpabio Assures of Working with All, Despite Differences

The President of the Nigerian 10th Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, said he will cooperate with all senators despite their differences.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State and immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja, after his inauguration as president of the 10th Senate.

Akpabio garnered 63 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdullaziz Yari, who scored 46 votes in a keenly contested election of the Senate presiding officers.

In his acceptance speech, Akpabio observed that, “Expressions of differing and opposing opinions and views are but the fabric that democracy is made of.”

He pointed out that with his election as president of the 10th senate, the legislative chamber is set for the promulgation of laws, and a check on the executive through oversight functions.

While expressing the view that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to building a strong and virile economy, the president of the 10th senate, noted that the actions of Mr. president in recent weeks pointed to his understanding of the challenges faced by the citizens.
