  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. About 50 Nigerians, Ghanaian Sex Workers Arrested In Ghana

About 50 commercial sex workers have been arrested in Koforidua, Ghana, GhanaWeb reports.

The operation was initiated by a Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Baafi, and the police. 

According to a source, some of the suspects arrested in brothels in parts of New Juaben South Municipality who were trafficked were majorly Nigerians. 

Baafi confirmed the arrests on Sunday, June 11, 2023, when speaking at Pentecost International Worship Center in Koforidua to climax the National Youth Week celebration by the Church.

He said, "I directed the Police to carry out an operation to arrest all those prostitutes who come to our town yesterday and left the central police station around 1:00 am.

"They managed to arrest almost about 50 people. I will make sure they arraign them before court tomorrow before I leave.

"About 99 per cent are Nigerians and they are coming here to dent the good image of Koforidua. Everybody who is doing that business will not be tolerated. If you know persons in any place, ghetto, house or some may be living in your house, and if you cannot go to the police station, call me."
