 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. About 50 Nigerians, Ghanaian Sex Workers Arrested In Ghana

About 50 commercial sex workers have been arrested in Koforidua, Ghana, GhanaWeb reports.

The operation was initiated by a Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Baafi, and the police. 

According to a source, some of the suspects arrested in brothels in parts of New Juaben South Municipality who were trafficked were majorly Nigerians. 

Baafi confirmed the arrests on Sunday, June 11, 2023, when speaking at Pentecost International Worship Center in Koforidua to climax the National Youth Week celebration by the Church.

He said, "I directed the Police to carry out an operation to arrest all those prostitutes who come to our town yesterday and left the central police station around 1:00 am.

"They managed to arrest almost about 50 people. I will make sure they arraign them before court tomorrow before I leave.

"About 99 per cent are Nigerians and they are coming here to dent the good image of Koforidua. Everybody who is doing that business will not be tolerated. If you know persons in any place, ghetto, house or some may be living in your house, and if you cannot go to the police station, call me."
