 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. About 50 Nigerians, Ghanaian Sex Workers Arrested In Ghana

About 50 commercial sex workers have been arrested in Koforidua, Ghana, GhanaWeb reports.

The operation was initiated by a Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Baafi, and the police. 

According to a source, some of the suspects arrested in brothels in parts of New Juaben South Municipality who were trafficked were majorly Nigerians. 

Baafi confirmed the arrests on Sunday, June 11, 2023, when speaking at Pentecost International Worship Center in Koforidua to climax the National Youth Week celebration by the Church.

He said, "I directed the Police to carry out an operation to arrest all those prostitutes who come to our town yesterday and left the central police station around 1:00 am.

"They managed to arrest almost about 50 people. I will make sure they arraign them before court tomorrow before I leave.

"About 99 per cent are Nigerians and they are coming here to dent the good image of Koforidua. Everybody who is doing that business will not be tolerated. If you know persons in any place, ghetto, house or some may be living in your house, and if you cannot go to the police station, call me."
