Akeredolu not dead, ignore rumours – Ondo govt.

Ondo State Government has urged the public to disregard the rumours circulating about the alleged death of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, it was clarified that the governor is alive and has been attending to state matters while also delegating state functions.

In the last 48 hours, rumour of the demise of the governor had taken over the social media space, with the situation creating apprehension in the state. Ademola-Olateju emphasised that the clarification was necessary due to the tension the rumours had caused in the state and across the country.

The commissioner also noted that the government had been receiving numerous calls and messages regarding the governor’s health, and had initially chosen to ignore the false information until it became apparent that certain individuals were attempting to use it for political gain.

“We have been inundated with calls and messages concerning the state of health of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON. We had chosen to ignore this wicked fabrication until it appeared that certain people sought to draw political mileage from the disinformation. “Though the Governor has been indisposed, he has been attending to state matters and delegating functions to functionaries of the government when necessary.
