 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity. Anambra State Government Arrests Illegal Revenue Collectors In Aguata, Orumba North Local Government Areas


Anambra State Government has arrested two persons suspected for illegally collecting government revenue at sand beaches in Aguata and Orumba North Local Government Areas.

An Enforcement team of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, AIRS, led by the Executive Director in charge of Operations and Other Revenues in the agency, Dr Christian Madubuko 

One of the suspects, arrested around a sand beach in Agulezechukwu, Aguata local government, Mr Cyril Anigbogu said he works for a traditional ruler in the area who he said they pay from 7,000 to 10,000 naira daily from tipper drivers who excavate sand from the beach in that community.

The second person caught in Awgbu community, Orumba North local government, Mr Onyebuchi Obele, said he sells tipper ticket for Anambra State Tipper Association ASTA, through one Mr Jekwu Onyejibe popularly known as "Jekwu Nanka." 

According to him, they account between fifteen and twenty thousand naira each day.

Commenting on the development, Dr Madubuko restated government's resolve to stop all avenues of diverting public revenue.

Dr Madubuko regretted the involvement of some highly placed persons like the custodians of traditional institutions who are supposed to be helping in generating revenue for the development of the state.

The AIRS Executive Director disclosed that Ndi Anambra's complaints against touts and other fraudsters in the guise of revenue collectors is touching the government hence the resolve to root them out completely. 

Dr Madubuko said the litany of development projects lined up by the Soludo administration requires all revenue fronts are effectively harnessed for their implementation.

The Leader of the enforcement team, Mr Chibuzor Chikwendu said that despite Governor Chukwuma Soludo's plea that such revenue windows remain suspended for now, people went ahead to collect and make use of the money on their own.

He said they raided the area because they warned the people times without numbers to hands off but they refused.
