 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Anambra  Government Hands Over 7 Road Construction Sites to Contractors

The Anambra State Government led by Prof. Charles Soludo has handed over seven roads in different parts of the State to Contractors for immediate construction, with a charge for speedy completion.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Stephanie Keri-Uzor gave the charge after taking the Contractors round the roads to be constructed.

The roads inspected and handed over include: Reconstruction of some selected roads In Onitsha Anambra State: creek roads; Reconstruction of some selected roads In Onitsha Anambra State: Moore Street/Iweka Road; Construction of Awkuzu-Umunya Road In Oyi LGA, Anambra State and Construction Of Amawbia Internal Roads (Lot 1) Awka-South LGA, Anambra State. 

Others are: Construction of Isuofia Township Roads (Phase 1) as an extension of the Igboukwu – Ikenga – Ekwulobia ongoing road project with a spur into Isuofia – Nanka; Owelaja Obosi Flood Control Infrastructure, Idemili-North LGA, Anambra State and Reconstruction of some selected streets in Onitsha: Ziks Avenue-Ozomagala Street and link road. 

The Commissioner charged the contractors to justify the confidence reposed on them by delivering standards and high quality works, working according to specifications and to ensure timely completion of the projects in-line with Gov. Soludo's mantra of building a livable and prosperous Anambra State.

Speaking, the Managing Director of Grandstar Ltd, Barr. Philip Ekwempu,  Director Rojel Nig. Ltd, Engr. Chinedu Onyemelukwe,  Director of Daniels Const. Co. Ltd, Chief Daniel Ekene Nkwonta, and the Project Engineer of Ag. Vision Const. Ltd, Engr. Nawar Deeb assured that their Companies would deliver the jobs according to specifications.

They promised to justify the confidence reposed on them by the State Government, by ensuring standards and delivering the projects within the timeline.

Highlights of the occasion was the symbolic handover of the engineering drawings for each of the road, and the handover of the site certificates to the Contractors. (MOI)
