 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Bala Muhammed Emerges Chairman PDP Governor’s Forum


Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammad has emerged chairman PDP Governor's Forum replacing Seyi Makinde of Oyo State


Govenor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State announced Bala’s emergence immediately after the PDP governors closed-door meeting held at Bauchi governor’s office in Bauchi.


He announced that Rivers state Governor Siminalayi Fubara is to serve as the Deputy Chairman of the Forum.


The governors and other PDP bigwigs, including the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar had stormed Bauchi for a retreat for elected officials.


Ahmadu Fintiri said Bala Muhammad was elected based on his competence and capability to steer the forum to greater heights.


Responding Bala Muhammed who said his emergence was a mark of honour to him and the entire people of Bauchi State, urged his colleagues to support him in order to move the forum and the PDP forward.


Governors who were present were Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State, Lt. Col. Kefas Agbu of Taraba State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Dauda Lawal Dare of Zamfara, Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State.


Others are Ademola Jackson Adeleke of Osun State, Sherrif Oborevwori of Delta, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Peter Ndubuisi of Enugu State and Godwin Obaseke of Edo represented by his deputy, Philip Shuaibu among others.
