 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. COAS Commissions Primary Health Facility In Kaduna.

Nigerian Army says it is committed towards ensuring senior officers are connected to their grassroots in order to enhance civil-military relations.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Faruk Yahaya stated this at the commissioning ceremony of a primary healthcare facility under the COAS special intervention civil-military co-operation project held at gadan gayan community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Represented by Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf, the Army Chief explained that Army has over the years, taken deliberate steps towards ensuring that it gives back to the society, the co-operation it enjoys from them by living up to its corporate social responsibility.

He pointed out that in pursuance to his vision, he has ensured that the Army paid very close attention to the non-kinetic aspect of its operations, which necessitated the construction of the health facility.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the people of Kaduna State for their support and co-operation to the Army in curbing security challenges, and assured of synergy with sister security agencies towards ridding Nigeria of criminal elements.

Lt General Yahaya also appealed to residents of gadan gayan community to see the project as a symbol of friendship by fostering peace, progress and prosperity in the community.

Earlier in his address, the project executor, Major General Ibrahim Mohammed Jallo explained that the project was conceptualized to cater for the need of the growing population of gadan gayan community, as well as to curb Infant and maternal mortality rate in the community.

In a remark, Chairman of Igabi Local Government Council, Alhaji Jabir Khamis Rigasa pledged to reciprocate the gesture by providing more primary healthcare facilities to the people of the area.
