 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. Comedian, Woli Arole sets to break Guinness World Record for 5,000 hours prayer marathon

Nigerian comedian, Woli Arole has disclosed his plans to organise a 5,000-person prayer vigil with the goal of setting a Guinness World Record.

This comes after a Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci finished a yet-to-be-confirmed 120-hour cook-a-thon which drew global attention.

The 33-year-old announced his decision to participate in the pray-a-thon on his Instagram page on Monday.

He added that the date and time has been established, but is yet to be revealed.

He wrote, “This is beyond setting a RECORD. This is to stir the heart of MEN to PRAY… We PRAY until something Happens. We are SET!”
