 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. COURT REMANDS TOCHI EPHRAIM (TOMPA),TWO OTHERS TO PRISON FOR FELONY. (PHOTOS).


Court remands Tochi Ephraim(TOMPA),two others to Prison.

A magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia North Magisterial District has remanded a Revenue contractor Mr Tochi Ephraim popularly known as TOMPA to prison over allegations of felony.

Tochi alongside Chibuzor Ihemelandu and Nwazue Azubuike were arraigned on five count charge before a magistrate court in Umuahia.

“That You Tochi Ephraim, Chibuzor Ihemelandu, Nwazue Azubuike and others now at large on or about the 21st of June 2023 at the Osisioma Head bridge, Osisioma Magistrate District, conspired amongst yourselves to commit felony to with: Assault occasioning Harm/ Malicious damage and thereby committer an offence punishable under section 516A (a) Of the Criminal Code Cap 80 Vol. 3, laws of Abia State 2005.” The first count had read.

PUO Reports that Tochi who was arrested last week was released by the police after the Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti allegedly intervened as reported by his friends.

The court declined his bail application and adjourned the matter to 19th Day of July 2023.
