 Walton, Kentucky- 2 elderly women lose their lives and another individual is critically injured in a crash that caused a dump truck to crash through restaurant.  While diners were enjoying a meal at Boondocks Pub on Tuesday, April 8th, a tragic incident occurred shattering the peaceful scene. At around 4:30 p.m. an SUV pulled out in front of a fully loaded dump truck. The driver of the dump truck attempted to brake and steer clear of the SUV but they were not able to avoid a collision. The SUV was struck by the dump truck and the impact caused the SUV to cross the southbound lane where it struck a guardrail and flipped before coming to rest on its top. Sadly the crash took the lives of 91-year-old Eva Mulberry and 89-year-old Betty Holland. A 66-year-old woman who was in the SUV was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Eight Schools Qualify For Volleyball Semi-finals Of Anambra School Sports Festival

Eight teams have progressed to the semifinal stage of the volleyball event at the ongoing Anambra school sports festival.

The team emerged at the close of the round rubbing series played at the Alex Ekwueme Square Volleyball Court in Awka. 

Community Secondary School Isuofia will square up against Holy Child Secondary, Isuofia in the first semi final in the male category while Washington Memorial, Onitsha will contest with Bubendorf Memorial, Adazi-Ani for the second place in the male final.

In the female category of the event, Washington Memorial and Ado Girls both of Onitsha will play the first semifinal while Maria Regina Secondary School, Nnewi will fight for the second slot in the game against Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia.

In the games played on Wednesday, Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia male team beat Bubendorf 2-0, walked over to advance while Washington, Onitsha defeated Holy Child Isuofia and Community Secondary School Akwaeze 2-0 apiece to reach the semi final stage.

Community Secondary School, Akwaeze and Metropolitan male teams dropped off from the competition.

In the female category, Washington Memorial beat Holy Child, Isuofia and Rosa Mystica, Agulu 2-0 apiece to progress while Maria Regina, Nnewi stunned Ado Girls of Onitsha and Community High School Akwaeze 2-0 each to reach the semis.

Rosa Mystica Agulu and Community High School ended the quest after Wednesday hostilities.

The grand finale of the school sports festival will hold at the Awka City Stadium on June 24.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
