 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. GOC 2 DIVISION NIGERIAN ARMY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO FOUR OUTSTANDING COMMAND STUDENTS 


The General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Mohammed Usman has awarded four outstanding students of Command Secondary School Mokola Ibadan and Command Secondary School Ede Osun State who performed excellently in the Armed Forces Mathematics Olympiad Competition 2023 organised by Ministry of Defence for Armed Forces Schools recently in Abuja.

In his remarks, the GOC stated that the event is to reward the students and their teachers for their hard work as well as encourage them to keep it up. He further stated that he has contracted an Educational Consultant to carry out a 2 days training workshop for the teachers at each of the Command Secondary Schools in 2 Division's Area of Responsibility to help build on their capacity. Maj Gen Usman expressed joy on their performance especially on Mathematics assuring the students of his readiness to rewarded them abundantly. 

In his welcome address, the Acting Director 2 Division Education Service Lt Col Thafa Musa congratulated the students for the outstanding performance during the competition. He also thanked the GOC for awarding the deserving students .

In the same vein the Zonal Director of Quality Assurance Ministry of Defence , Mrs Fumilayo Adeoye stated that the Olympiad Mathematics competition was organized by Ministry of Defense (Education department) Abuja in collaboration with the National Mathematics Center Abuja.

She further stated that the the Command Day Secondary School Ibadan has done well to come 1st in the competition while Command Secondary School Ede also came 3rd.

It will be recalled that Armed Forces Mathematics Olympiad Competition 2023 was held in Abuja by the Ministry of Defence and involves 110 Armed Forces Schools in Nigeria that participated in the competition. This years event took place on 23 March 2023. 

The four students that benefitted for the scholarship are:
1. Sofiat Lawal – CDSS Ede
2. Adesewa Ojediran – CDSS Ede
3. Okeke Christopher – CDSS Mokola
4. Showunmi Abdul Somad – CDSS Mokola
