Earlier this morning, the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Vice Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Engr Seyi Makinde, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Media Mogul and Chairman Emeritus of DAAR Communications PLC, High Chief Engr Raymond A.A. Dokpesi, at his Hiltop mansion in Asokoro, Abuja.

The governor and his entourage were received by one of the sons of the late media mogul, Mr. Raji Dokpesi, his wives and other members of the family.

During the visit, Governor Makinde prayed for strength and comfort, saying that at 71, High Chief Dokpesi lived a fulfilled life, and achieved much more than some of his contemporaries.

He told the family that, everybody is grieved because, the late media mogul impacted in the lives of many people and was a friend, a father figure and a leader to all.

He recalled how he was together with Chief Dokpesi in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, before the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Abuja that produced the Presidential Candidate of the party, saying that they disagreed on so many things, but High Chief Dokpesi was always calm and respectful in his remarks.

He called on the family not to focus on the negatives because of his sudden departure, but should look at his numerous achievements and build on them.

While appreciating the late media mogul for his roles and how he impacted in him as an individual, Governor Makinde, recalled how the late Dokpesi gave him free airtime in his station, the African Independent Television (AIT), when he was contesting as Governor of the state in 2019, even though  so many people at that time did not believed in him.

Responding on behalf of the diseased family, Mr Raji Dokpesi, thanked Governor Makinde for the honour of taking time out of his busy schedule to condole with the family.

He said that what the family would do is to push, promote and keep the legacies his father left behind, and all the dreams the father want done for Nigerians, especially for youth inclusion in governance and in the affairs of the country.
