 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Jigawa New SSG Assumes Duties

The newly appointed Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State SSG, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim has pledged to guide staff under his office to ensure success of Governor Mallam Umar Namadi .

He made the pledge while assuming office as the new Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State.

Governor Umar Namadi had earlier administered the oath of office on the new SSG at a brief ceremony held at the council chamber, government house, Dutse.

In a brief meeting with the Permanent Secretaries and Directors, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Mamser solicited the support and cooperation of the staff, and assured that he would treat those who work with him on the basis of their individual skills and competencies, rather than prejudices.

“It is the responsibility of those in leadership to provide an enabling environment for those who work under them to thrive. We have the responsibility of ensuring that this government succeeds. If this government does not succeed, it means that we have not done our job. We are supposed to coordinate, monitor and ensure the implementation of policies and programmes of this government”.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and Finance, Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri pledged loyalty of all staff to the new SSG and the state Government. 

He said the three Permanent Secretaries in the Office of the SSG, would tomorrow take turns to brief their new principal.

Also the Permanent Secretary, Special Services and Council Affairs , Alhaji Abba Muhammad assured the SSG of all the necessary support and cooperation to achieve the desired objective .
