OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Kano Assembly Holds Valedictory Session, Dissolves 9th Assembly 


The Kano state house of assembly (KNHA) has  held a veledictory session, to mark the end of the 9th assembly.


Speaking during the event, the former speaker KNHA, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari explained that, the 9th assembly inaugurated in 2019, recorded unprecedented achievements especially in law making process.


He highlighted that, the house had passed more that 40 bills, several resolutions covering diverse areas such as roads, water, education, health, women and youths empowerment.


Alhaji Hamisu stressed that, prominent among the laws  includes,Kano state assembly service commission law, in addition to championing the establishment of a commission, signifying administrative autonomy of the legislature.


"kano state free and compulsory universal basic and secondary education law, Kano state persons with disability law, Kano state child protection law, among others "


The former speaker maintained that, KNHA evolved and injected adequate resources into the 2022 budget, to cushion the effects of flooding experienced by farmers and households, during the 2021 rainy season.


On the issue of security, he pointed out that, the 9th  assembly took  a bold step, by enacting laws towards improving peace and sustenance of security in the state.


" we appropriated funds for the establishment of military training ground and deployment of befitting technology system, that helped prevented the influx of bandits and other criminal activities in falgore forest"


Earlier, all the former members of the kano 9th assembly delivered a good will message, and shared their experiences during their tenure as representatives of the people.


Radio Nigeria reports that, the outgoing clerk Alhaji Garba Bako Gezawa who retired on 5th June 2023, as well as chairman assembly service commission, and chairman parliamentary staff association of Nigeria kano chapter commended the outgoing members, for the cordial working relationship.
