  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. Man City win Champions League, achieve Treble dream

It was dream come true for English giants Manchester City as they achieved their Treble quest by beating hard-fighting 1-0 Inter Milan by a lone goal in the final of the European Champions League played this Saturday night, June 10, 2023 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

Rodri scored the all-important goal in the 68th minute of play whenhe rifled home beyond Goalie Onana from inside the Inter Milan penalty area.

By this Man City matched Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United 1999 record of winning the treble. They earlier won the English FA Cup and Premier League.

For City manager Pep Guardiola, it is his third Champions League crown of his coaching career, thus joining Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane on three Champions League victories.

Only Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid has won more, with four.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
