 Senate Approves Death Penalty For Drug Traffickers The Senate has approved the death penalty for those convicted on the charge of drug trafficking in the country. The punishment prescribed in the extant NDLEA Act is a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The resolution of the Senate followed its consideration of a report of the Committees on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters and Drugs and Narcotics, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights & Legal Matters presented the report during plenary, Sen.Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno North). The bill, which passed its third reading, aims to update the list of dangerous drugs, strengthen the operations of the NDLEA, review penalties, and empower the establishment of laboratories. Man City win Champions League, achieve Treble dream

It was dream come true for English giants Manchester City as they achieved their Treble quest by beating hard-fighting 1-0 Inter Milan by a lone goal in the final of the European Champions League played this Saturday night, June 10, 2023 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

Rodri scored the all-important goal in the 68th minute of play whenhe rifled home beyond Goalie Onana from inside the Inter Milan penalty area.

By this Man City matched Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United 1999 record of winning the treble. They earlier won the English FA Cup and Premier League.

For City manager Pep Guardiola, it is his third Champions League crown of his coaching career, thus joining Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane on three Champions League victories.

Only Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid has won more, with four.
