 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NIGERIA UNDER-20 WOMEN FOOTBALL TEAM TO FACE BURUNDI IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE 2024 FIFA UNDER-20 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS.(PHOTO).


Nigeria’s national under-20 women’s football team have been drawn to face Burundi in the second round of the 2024 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

 

The draw was officially conducted by the Confederation of African Football in Cairo, Egypt.

 

Equatorial Guinea will face Libya, Togo will take on Guinea Bissau, and Mauritius will face off against Chad.

 

The winners from this round will then move on to the second round of the qualifiers.

 

In this round, Ethiopia will take on the winners of the Equatorial Guinea and Libya pairing, while Senegal will face off with Mali.

Nigeria, the semi-finalists at the last edition of competition, will face Burundi while Ghana awaits the winners of the clash between Togo and Guinea Bissau.

 

The matches will take place between September 1 and September 10. While second qualifying round of matches will take place between Oct. 6 and Oct. 15, with the winners heading to the third round of qualifiers scheduled for Nov. 12 to Nov. 19.
