 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. Police officer arrested for attempting to kill his colleague in Adamawa


The police in Kaduna state has arrested an officer, Inspector Moses Paul, for attempting to strangle his colleague, Inspector Simnawa Paul, while they were both on duty at the Police Mobile Force base of 62 Squadron Kafanchan on June 16.


The police in a statement released yesterday June 26, said Inspector Moses Paul tried to strangle, using a rope, the neck of his unsuspecting colleague. The statement said the ''victim was however rescued by two other Police Officers whose attention were drawn by his cries.''


The police added that preliminary inquiries reveals the primary motive was in attempt to cart away Inspector Simnawa Paul's rifle while the the remote cause of action will be ascertained at the end of the full scale investigation during which the culprit will be facing both disciplinary and legal proceedings.
