 Germany and Austria to tap oil reserves after 400 million barrels requested  Germany and Austria announced they are releasing portions of their oil reserves in response to an International Energy Agency request for member nations to collectively release 400 million barrels to help ease rising energy prices linked to the Iran conflict. Japan also said it will begin releasing part of its reserves starting Monday. The move marks one of the largest coordinated releases of emergency oil stocks in history. The previous record came in 2022, when IEA members released 182.7 million barrels following the energy disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Member countries currently hold over 1.2 billion barrels of public emergency oil stocks, along with an additional 600 million barrels of industry stocks maintained under government requirements. President Tinubu asked to probe Buhari, ex-ministers, service chiefs, others

President Bola Tinubu has been urged to allow for a full-scale investigation into the immediate past administration led by the former president, Muhammadu Buhari.

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, who made the call in a tweet on his verified handle on Sunday, said the investigation should begin with Buhari, members of his cabinet, service chiefs and other cabals in the administration.

According to Sani, if the probe is not extended to other aspects of the previous government, the president may be accused of being selective.

He wrote, “The President should courageously allow a full-scale investigation of the plunder that occurred under the Buhari administration, beginning with Buhari, his ex-ministers, his service chiefs and the cabal wing of his Government.

“The President should not also shield former Governors who are now at liberty, even waiting for political appointment as entitled men.
