President Tinubu Commissions National Assembly Mosque
The multi million naira Juma'atu Mosque has been commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The commissioning ceremony took place this Friday at the National Assembly Complex three Arm Zone in Abuja
President Bola Ahmad Tinubu represented by the vice president Kashim Shetima said the unity of purpose of the 9th Assembly was a commendable one
He congratulated the combined efforts of the Legislatures and Staff of the National Assembly particularly the principal officers of the two chambers and the able leadership of the chairman planning committee for constructing the Mosque
"He said he was here to felicitate with Muslim umma in the National Assembly for contributing resources to build this edifice most especially the pivotal role by president of the Senate and speaker for without their concent, the deduction would not have been effected for the construction of the Mosque"
He urged Muslim Umma to always be humble as nothing was permanent, hoping that the contributions be acceptable by Allah SWA
In his speech the president of the Senate Ahmad Lawan stressed the importance of maintaining such important investment
He assured to continue to provide support for the maintainance of the edifice and service to Muslim brothers and sisters in the near future.
Earlier in his Speech the chairman planning committee for the construction of the Mosque senator Ibrahim Shekarau explained that the committee was able to generate over five hundred and seventy million naira for the project from the contributions of senators ,members of the House of representatives , staff of the
National Assembly and individuals.
"I have the pleasure to announce that after completing the project the committee has in it's coffers over one hundred million naira for maintainance of the edifice"
Welcoming the guests the Clerk of the National Assembly Malam Sani Magaji Tambuwal
thanked all the stakeholders for their enormous contribution towards the completion of the Mosque,
Tambuwall further believed that the Mosque would accommodate a great number of Muslims in and outside the complex for the Juma'at congregation and help staff to deliver services without any hitches especially on fridays
The Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero who represented the Sultan of Sokoto , the Emir of Bauchi , Esu Nupe and former Clerks were among dignitaries that graced the occasion.
