 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Speaker Abbas condemns killing of Fulani leader, children in Zaria


The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas (PhD), has condemned the killings of a Fulani leader, Alhaji Shuaibu Mohammed, and his four children by suspected bandits in Dorayi community in Zaria Local Government of Kaduna State. This was contained in a statement signed by Special Adviser on  media and Publicity  to the Spearker Musa Abdullahi Krishi


Alhaji Shuaibu Mohammed was the Ardon Birni da Kewaye of Zazzau Emirate. He, alongside his four children, was killed by suspected bandits, who also rustled his 100 cows, on Saturday night. 


Speaker Abbas described the killings as most unfortunate, barbaric and gruesome, saying the killers must not go unpunished.


The Speaker called on all security agencies in Kaduna State to intensify efforts at bringing the killers of the Fulani leader and his children to book.


Speaker Abbas equally called for calm while the security agencies do their job.


He sent condolences to the Zazzau Emirate, the family of the late Ardo, the people and the government of Kaduna State over the unfortunate incident.


Speaker Abbas prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
