 Germany and Austria to tap oil reserves after 400 million barrels requested  Germany and Austria announced they are releasing portions of their oil reserves in response to an International Energy Agency request for member nations to collectively release 400 million barrels to help ease rising energy prices linked to the Iran conflict. Japan also said it will begin releasing part of its reserves starting Monday. The move marks one of the largest coordinated releases of emergency oil stocks in history. The previous record came in 2022, when IEA members released 182.7 million barrels following the energy disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Member countries currently hold over 1.2 billion barrels of public emergency oil stocks, along with an additional 600 million barrels of industry stocks maintained under government requirements. WOMEN AFFAIRS COMMISSIONER HANDS OVER ABANDONED BABY BY TEENAGE MOTHER TO GRANDMOTHER.

Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner Honourable Ify Obinabo has handed over baby abandoned by her teenage mother to grandmother. 

The Women Affairs Commissioner who did the handing over in her office in Awka noted that the baby was brought to her by a doctor said that the young mother abandoned the child in his hospital after delivery.

Reacting, Hon Obinabo lamented on the high rate of child abandonment among teenage girls and urged them to stop. She went ahead to charge parents to equally treat their girl children with love anytime there's such incident instead of sending them out to fend for themselves.

Hon Obinabo though has reunited the newly born with her family strictly under the care of the grandmother has mandated them to always come to the ministry every two weeks to ensure that all conditions are met and strictly adhered to.
