Freddie Jackson, R&B Legend Behind “You Are My Lady” and “Rock Me Tonight,” Dies at 70 R&B has lost one of its most unmistakable voices. Freddie Jackson, the singer whose smooth delivery helped define romantic R&B during the 1980s and gave generations of listeners songs including “You Are My Lady,” “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)” and “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” has died. He was 70. Jackson’s death was announced Tuesday, October 6, through his verified Instagram account. According to the memorial shared by his family and team, the singer died Monday night, October 5. The announcement did not disclose a cause of death. “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Freddie Jackson,” the statement read, describing the singer as a generous soul who loved his fans, family, friends and music. WOMEN AFFAIRS COMMISSIONER HANDS OVER ABANDONED BABY BY TEENAGE MOTHER TO GRANDMOTHER.

Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner Honourable Ify Obinabo has handed over baby abandoned by her teenage mother to grandmother. 

The Women Affairs Commissioner who did the handing over in her office in Awka noted that the baby was brought to her by a doctor said that the young mother abandoned the child in his hospital after delivery.

Reacting, Hon Obinabo lamented on the high rate of child abandonment among teenage girls and urged them to stop. She went ahead to charge parents to equally treat their girl children with love anytime there's such incident instead of sending them out to fend for themselves.

Hon Obinabo though has reunited the newly born with her family strictly under the care of the grandmother has mandated them to always come to the ministry every two weeks to ensure that all conditions are met and strictly adhered to.
