 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 2023 DECORATION CEREMONY: ALFADARAI CHARGES NEW PROMOTEES IN LAGOS COMMAND ON LOYALTY, DEDICATION, DISCIPLINE AND PROFESSIONALISM.


"Justify your new rank, with more professional, operational and administrative results for the service and keep the flag flying," Alfadarai said.


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, held its decoration ceremony for new promotees, who recently enjoyed, elevation to their new and enviable ranks, today, Tuesday, 4th July, 2023, at the State Command's Headquartered, in Alahusa, Ikeja.

As a result of the 2022 promotion results recently released, by the Civil Defence Corrections Fire and Immigration Services Board ( CDCFIB ), a total of one hundred and sixty four ( 164 ) officers enjoyed, their  promotion varying from the following categories; three ( 3) Assistant Commandants of Corps moved to Deputy Commandans of Corps and fourteen ( 14 ) Chief Superintendents of Corps were promoted to Assistant Commandants of Corps. 

Other categories include; twenty four ( 24 ) Superintendents of Corps moved to Chief Superintendents of Corps, twenty one (21) Deputy Superintendent of Corps moved to Superintendents of Corps (SC), twenty one ( 21 ) Assistant Superintendents of Corps I moved to Deputy Superintendents of Corps, thirty eight ( 38 ) Assistant Superintendents of Corps II moved to Assistant Superintendents of Corps I and forty eight Inspectors of Corps to Assistant Superintendents of Corps II.

The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant Usman Alfadarai, fdc, mnim, mpa, fisn, fcss, expressed, his profound gratitude to the former and excellent Honourable Minister of Interior , Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, the Secretary of the Board, Mallam Ja'afaru Ahmed rtd, the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, dfisn, OFR and his entire top management team during the decoration ceremony today.

He extolled them for deeming it fit to recognize and reward hardwork, professionalism, discipline and dedication to service, through the elevation of officers, who have distinguished, themselves after seating and passing their promotional examinations in Lagos State Command.

In the light of the welfare package of the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, "I am extremely happy to express joy and happiness on behalf of the Command and officers, who got promotion from their old ranks to their new, enviable and well deserved ranks," Alfadarai said.

Alfadarai, while rendering his speech at the event, emphatically, advised, the promotees not to see promotion as an advantage to intimidate their colleagues or a reason to undermine the professional ethics and  practice of our highly revered and esteemed service but however, they  are expected to justify their new ranks, with professional, operational and administrative performances and results, be good ambassadors and keep the flag of the Corps flying.

The event also featured good will messages from other sister agencies and invited dignitaries. Present at the event also was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and Finance, DCP Bassey Ewah Samuel, who represented, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa. Other services present include; Department of State Services, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Identity Management Commission and others . 

Nevertheless, on behalf of the management and staff of the Command, the Lagos State Commandant also sincerely thanked, all security chiefs, from various sister agencies, their representatives, distinguished invited guests, senior officers, families and friends of the service, who made this year's decoration ceremony a colourful one for all of us.
