 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Awka South Keke Chairman Sues Osita Obi Over Defamation Of Character 

The Chairman of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Awka South Chapter, Hon. Prince Collins Ozojiofor (alias Snoop) has institute a case of Defamation of Character and Blackmail against one Mr. Osita Obi of Umuawulu Town in Awka South LGA.

In the suit (A/191/2023) filed by Hon. Collins Attorney at Awka High Court, he demanded the sum of Five Hundred Million Naira (500,000,000) as cost of damages done to his name and reputation.

He said that Mr. Osita Obi, the man he sued is parading himself as the Coordinator of a faceless Union named 'Anambra Keke Drivers Forum (AKDF)'.

While speaking to Journalist at Awka, the Capital of Anambra State, Hon. Collins explained that Tricycle owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) is a registered Trade Union which elected him with the responsibilities of piloting their affairs in Awka South LGA of Anambra State.

He maintained that the said Anambra Keke Drivers forum(AKDF) is not a registered Trade Union and must not interfere in the affairs of Tricycle, Owners and Riders in Anambra State, especially in Awka South. 

Hon. Collins claimed that Osita Obi created the unknown group just to fight him and his Union that is purely recognized by Government. But when he failed in his illegal fight against his Union, he resorted to lies , blackmail and defamation of his character.

Hon. Collins claimed that the illegal activities of Mr. Osita Obi is a ploy to incite and turn him against the State Government, his subordinate and the general public. 

He lamented that in a bid to destroy his image and set him against the Government, Mr. Obi accused him of being a cultist and Gang leader of a dreaded cult group which he must prove in the Court of Law. 

Hon. Collins wondered why Osita Obi will use such heinous allegations against his person just in a bid to take over the Leadership of Keke Union. 

He explained that Mr. Obi has continually peddled falsehood and wrong information about him to the present Administration of Gov. Soludo in a bid to take over the Keke Leadership in Awka South and Anambra at large.

He concluded that notwithstanding the incessant blackmail, unfounded allegations by Mr. Osita Obi, he and all the members of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Awka South are focused and determined to work with the Administration of Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo. 

He said that TOAN under his leadership has already keyed into the Government tax net and will work diligently to achieve greater goals and meet up with the tempo of development across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
