CBN DEBUNKS FAKE NEWS ON NEW N5,000 AND N10,000 BANKNOTES.(PHOTO).

  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. Court Convicts Photographer, One Other for Internet Fraud in Kaduna

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of One Goje Jehu Zason (aka Mark Anthony) and Williams Justice Gankon before Justice A.A Isiaka  of the Kaduna State High Court on separate one count charge bordering on internet fraud. 

They pleaded guilty to the charges, consequently, the prosecution counsel, E.K. Garba and M.U Gadaka urged the court to convict them accordingly. 

Justice Isiaka convicted and sentenced Gankon to one year imprisonment without any option of fine while Zason was sentenced to two years imprisonment with an option of fine of N150,000. 

The defendants are to forfeit all proceeds and gadgets used to commit the crime to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
