 GOVERNOR UZODIMMA CALLS FOR LOVE, UNITY, HIGHLIGHTS PROGRESS IN IMO STATE  In his Easter message delivered after the Holy Eucharist at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish in Omuma, Oru East LGA, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, emphasized the central theme of the Easter season — Love. The Governor called on citizens to extend the spirit of Easter beyond mere celebration, encouraging them to embody love, unity, and compassion in their daily interactions and civic responsibilities. He commended the people of Imo State for their steadfast commitment to these virtues and urged continued efforts to promote a caring and united society. Fake news will not derail, distract my mission for a new Nigeria — Obi

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25, 2023 election, Peter Obi, has decried the mischief of fake news manipulators using his name but said that they will not distract nor derail his focus for a new Nigeria which he insists, is Possible.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Obi said “I have noticed with dismay, an emerging pattern, where fake media reports and news items are predicated on interviews and press remarks I never granted.

Obi mentioned among many others, “Two recent instances relating to my saying that I am looking forward to running for office in 2027 on a supposed Arise TV interview that never took place and the other, about my reaction to prospective appointees into the current Federal Government”

He described both reports as bogus. “Regrettably, our politics has sunken to this level where manipulation of the media space is now a trade.” He lamented

Undaunted, the former Anambra state Governor said “For me, I shall continue to speak on topical national issues via recognized news and media outfits, but certainly will not concern myself with cheap distractive trolls.

“My focus and that of the Obidient Movement that l lead will not derail from the original mission of creating a new Nigeria which we believe is Possible.

On the issue of poaching his supporters to serve in the new government, Obi said “our emphasis has never been on political positions or personal aggrandizement but on putting the process right and deepening our democracy and helping the downtrodden in our society.

“That was why our messages during the electioneering were all issue-driven.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
