 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. FIRE SAFETY: LAGOS FIRE SERVICE TAKES ADVOCACY TO OFFICE OF FIRST LADY

                   
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) held a sensitisation session for staff of the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State at the Lagos House, Ikeja on Tuesday in continuation of its civic engagement duty embedded in the core mandate of Fire Prevention.

Speaking during the Fire Safety Advocacy, the Director of LSFRS, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye informed the audience that the present administration has proactively done its quota with its huge investment in Public Order and Safety and that it is the turn of the populace to reciprocate the gesture by keying into the Fire Safety Net as provided by the Government.

She further disclosed that a total number of 5,979 fire and related emergencies were attended to and recorded in the first tenure of the present administration between May 2019 and May 2023.

The educational session, which had the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and all officials of her office in attendance including her Security Operatives, also engaged the participants in the practical demonstration on the usage of first aid fire fighting equipment.
